Invest in Children Visioning Event Results
On Thursday, April 19, 2012, 175 community stakeholders, agency representatives and advocates convened for the first Invest in Children (IIC) Visioning Event. The purpose of the event was to provide IIC with a list of possible objectives and activities for our new goal committees to utilize in charting a course for the future and for the community as a whole. The event was a working session where participants, organized into tables of ten, engaged in facilitated discussions to identify the most pressing issues facing our community and programs and policies to address those issues. The event utilized a handheld wireless audience response system, commonly known as “clickers,” that allowed participants to vote on the ideas generated by the table discussions and see the results instantly on screen. As a next step, the IIC goal committees will translate those ideas into plans and then into actions.
